Please post below if you are interested in participating in an F1 tipping comp for the new season which starts next weekend.
Not finalised the format as yet but it will be based around our popular TTC format with points for places, with bonus points, power plays along the way. Im thinking about a multiple driver selection system, with up to 3 per race from 3 selection groups (1 per group).
Could be fun and will definitely add interest to the season.
Looking at the out right betting it would be better to start with the following groups, which can be changed as the season progresses.
GROUP A -------- Kimi Räikkönen Fernando Alonso Felipe Massa Lewis Hamilton
GROUP B -------- Sebastian Vettel Robert Kubica Jenson Button Nick Heidfeld Rubens Barrichello Heikki Kovalainen
GROUP C -------- Jarno Trulli Timo Glock Mark Webber Nelsinho Piquet Nico Rosberg Kazuki Nakajima Sebastien Buemi Sebastien Bourdais Giancarlo Fisichella Adrian Sutil
Comments please on the important subject of entry deadline.
Should we set the deadline to :
a) One hr before race time b) One hr before the final qualifying session c) Before any qualifying or practise
If (a) then the majority of entries will have the pole driver, and the the other drivers selected could be the highest placed diver on the grid in that selection group.
If (b) then the comp will favour those players who follow F1 closely and who have watched the intial practise sessions. We are also likely to get a lot more variation in selections, which is essential to make a good comp. It also makes the final practise more interesting to players as they will want to see their selections finish as high up the grid as possible.
I'm in (c) for me as you have to give everybody the fairest chance and some most peeps can't be around all weekend. A lil bit of sponsership could be tasty as well Mugs with your marketing skills

Whatever deadline we pick everybody has the same time to post which is fair, but what we need to do is ensure the comp is the best we can make it. If we go with (a) Im not sure it will be as half the entries could be the same. If we go with (c) it plays into the hands of the serious F1 fans of which there could be only 2 in the comp. I think (b) is the logical pick as everyone will have some info (3 practice sessions) on which to base their selections.
As this is a free to enter comp, we reserve the right to tinker with the rules if there is something obviously not working after 1 or 2 races.
You put a lot of thought into these type of comps Mugs. It's one of the reasons why BOTB continues to thrive. Now come on Charlie pop in and give us the rundown mate
I think you should have picks made before the Qualifying session, so usually the Saturday as this will ensure that people are picking different drivers yet have also had the chance to see how the teams are doing on the track.
While it will mean that some of the picks turn out to be a 'stab in the dark' it will also mean that people are not picking the highest ranked drivers on the grid after Qualifying.
