That was great Mick.

I didn't get involved in the big priced horses or that listed race, far too difficult to call in my opinion.
But Mr Wolf was the classic Mick bet. We go back a few years and I could tell you were very excited about that horse and when you look at the horses history, I could see why. That was a cracking bet tonight and you are a gnats whisker away from hitting a purple patch.
That was a cracking result for me the way the race was won and would have been even better had it won, but a profit is a profit.
Super job mate applaud

Thanks Mark

You know as well as I do that it's not necessarily how much you win it's whether you get it right. I read the listed race like a handicap and was chuffed with the favourites stupidly priced. I would be interested to know from your mate whether the Fanshawe horse was any good cos I was told it was in the race to test it out. How many mugs backed that eh!!

I planned a max bet on Mr Wolf as soon as it was declared for the race but the draw scuppered that. I do believe it cost the horse the race and the sad thing is when it returns to Ponte it has to be put in better class or I won't get a price and even it it does the price will be false. It's well exposed and well handicapped now of course. It drifted to 9s on betfair very odd that.

Verdict: very unlucky on both counts but my employers had massive EW double at 6-1 and 8-1 so they were happy with the consolation prize, and I hope I at least put everyone off backing the favourite. I do know some layed it which is always a dangerous things to do lol.

I appreciate everyone's support especially Miss Wizz quite a humbling comment you made yesterday thanks

Have great day

Mick

As a member of BOTB, FUNDAMENTALIST surely has a right to know the score, so why doesn't someone just explain it to him in a straight fashion? I was going to PM him this, but then couldn't see a reason for it not to be on open forum; others might reasonably ask the same question.

FUNDAMENTALIST, Mick is a colleague of Mugz's (& partner in the site? I think) and runs a share scheme which people buy into - Mick makes selections and puts money on on the syndicate's behalf; profits are then divvied out.

Any year he doesn't make a profit, he gives out the selections for free the following year - this goes by email, but there's also a phone line for people to call in if they're away from their PCs.

If I've got any of that wrong, apologies - I'm sure someone will quickly correct me!

Hi Ryor

I get about 30 emails a month enquiring about our site. Very few request on here and in some cases I let other people speak because I don't want to come on here and tout for business cos I just don't do that. People find us through recommendations and hopefully they stay. This year for example I got 5 new people from the Mathmetician's site. That is a great service also and I hope I can achieve the same quailty. If you look back on posts over the years you will see some very awful posts by people and our members our quite defensive when posts are written like what fundy did..very few others on the BOTB site would write a post like that so I'm comfortable with the reply. There are absolutely no shares places and have given free info out only once in 9 years to people who are not shareholders.

You have just about got it right Ryor, but Mugz and I communicate very little and are seperate in what we do. I have tremendous admiration for what he has built over the years and he has some great members and a brilliant website, and I will always support him. He also helped me build the Successful Betting site something that I really appreciate aswell.

SB Share Members do not pay anything for my services it is basically a hobbie site that the phone line pays for.

Hope that has clarified things a little and thanks everso for the post.

Have a great day

Mick

PS Were's Clocker these days???

Excellent clarification, thanks Mick (and I'm relieved I got it mostly right!) - in particular I think it really does help to know the reason for the 25p/min phone line, which seems fair enough in the circs.

Agree with you also re the excellence of BOTB and the work Mugz has put in Thumbs Up

Very sorry to say that Clocker hasn't been feeling great for several weeks, and has suspended all his racing interests, including on BOTB (tho he pops in occasionally like today, just to ensure the Roll Eyes Roll Eyes get a bit of exercise from time to time Big Grin). Which leaves a big, Clocker-shaped hole all through BOTB - is very much missed by just about everybody, including me Frown

Surely there is no need to have a go MW...

FUNDAMENTALIST is simply new to the site, and given all the clear and strict rules frequently cited on BOTB re no links (whether phone numbers, websites or emails) to tipsters charging for their services, it was perfectly reasonable for him to assume this was one of those.

Many people do the same - in fact when I first joined, I was totally perplexed by the apparent blind eye being turned to the rules, and thought the SB syndicate was some mysterious kind of club which required secret handshakes to enter Big Grin

No way was Fundy being disrespectful or slagging anybody off; in fact imho he was actually speaking up in defence of BOTB in a positive way after spotting what he thought was someone trying to pull a fast one - because he didn't know the score - and why was that? Because some people were too busy slagging him off to spot that he's simply a newbie who needed putting in the picture.

Which was the reason for my explanation above.

PS Well done on the 4/1 winner Mick

If you want a marketing manager Mick, you can always call my advice line - I'll PM you the number - it's only 25p a minute Wink Wink Big Grin

(sorry, that was totally, totally irresistable - the naughty kid part of me still refuses to go, several decades on Big Grin)

Just got a question, how can I get you to send me e-mails instead of me having to phone? Not trying to be a cheapskate or anything, it's just that I'm unsure of when to call!
