5th in the end for $269. Finally picked up A10s in the BB against the loosest player and he had AK.
Nothing went right at this final table, card dead, got criplled once and the shorties kept sucking out and doubling up meaning at some stage we were all 5 on about 5 to 8BBs deep.
How many rebuys do you allow yourself in each sat you play to qualify for this?
Do you just wait for big hand and shove before rebuy has ended, and does your game change that much after rebuy period?
When you are low stack near the money is there a key strategy, like do you accept just fold everything intill you are blinded out but hope when u go all in with the blind that you get lucky and stay alive?
Id like to know cus id like to play these bigger events for cheap.
I don't play the Daily Eighty Grand often cos I often like to take a break between 19h30 and 22h30 or so (the tourney starts at 20h) but I play all five $5 rebuy satellites from 17h to 19h30.
I play relatively tight rebuy periods but will spend about $20 on average (since I will always add on, that's $10 min with the buy in).
My thing for the freezeout period is a pure blind stealing push/fold bot strategy. I try not to call all ins, I'd rather steal blinds. I will however call all ins with good hands only if I'm short stacked and far from the seat or obviously when I have odds, usually in the BB but even then I often fold my BB with 2-1 odds (sometimes a little more) to call if I only have an average stack or less. The reason I do this is to protect the raising weapon that your stack is. You really don't wanna lose the sharpness of your weapon in just that one hand. I really don't like calling an all in, lose the hand and find that my stack is too small to raise blinds.
When I have a very large stack I often will not call either and if my stack is humongous I will not raise either. If I know I have enough chips to win without playing a hand, it's +EV not too call anything big. Sometimes your stack is not quite large enough to win but you know that 1 or 2 round of blinds will make it enough. I'd rather fold say AJ to an all in even if I know I have the best hand and wait for a better spot to win chips. AQ UTG with 200/400 blinds if I have 12K? Nah I'll go ahead and fold that, I'll find a better spot later, perhaps even with a much weaker hand such as A8 or KQ on the button of instance (weaker cards but better spot)
It's all about managing your tack size and play a survival game. This reminds me of a regular of that satellite who told me in the chat (during another sat) that he won thanks to me cos I constantly folded my SB to him in the BB, "strangely cos you had a huge stack" he said. Well what he does not seem to understand and that I was weak on his big blind BECAUSE I had a huge stack, if I had a smaller one I would have need the chips and raised him a couple of times for sure. I was quite happy to fold every hand and wait for the seat to be won and not risking bleeding chips having to fold to a resteal.
Oh and the Daily 80 Grand on Sunday is the Sunday special edition. 200K guaranteed and is usually as big as the Sunday Quarter Million.

It's all about judging fold equity. A lot of good regs will also fold 2-1 or 3-1 odds in the big blind because they too understand the dynamics of satellites. If that's too much of their stack, they will disregard the odds of calling.
If I'm getting low on chips I will go ahead and push even with rags if I think there's a good chance they will all fold (and the better your position the more likely they are to fold). But if you're on 2 or 3BBs there's little chance of that. So it's better to get blinded and ship the rest of your chips with your BB if you're heads up against the raiser. If your have rubbish cards and you don't wait for the BB, then even if you win the hand a large part of that's gonna go in paying the next BB which you'll have a hard time defending with your modest stack. It means you'll have to win a second all in.

Hello BlunderCity, I've been reading your posts, some interesting stuff, my questions is; do you make a living from playing poker, either live or on-line ?? If Yes, would you briefly tell me how did you start ?

just lost half the stack....3 bet a guy who raised a lot with AKs and he called with KJ he hit his jack for top pair and i made conti bet and with blinds so big i am half the average....
but next hand i hit 2 pair with AJ and big stack called 3 smallish bets with A6 so im back to average
a few hands later i got aces and 3 bet the chip leader... he called and the flop was AJ6... i checked and he checked then i bet most of my stack (overbet) to make him think im bluffing he called with queens
i have a thousand times my starting stack hehe 2nd out of 15...only $34 guaranteed but not planning to go broke
almost 8 hours now...started at 4pm and its midnight now... getting kinda late cuz i'ce to wake up early 2moro

took a few hits but then doubled up against chip leader maniac with a bit of help from a guy tilting who got the chipleader to put some money in the pot anyway 2nd out of 8!!!
i was praying that he was tilting cuz he raised from UTG and then bet almost pot size on 789 flop.....i had jacks and didnt think i should fold
took a few hits and now down to 6th out of 6 i am now on half the average...
dont know how to play 6 handed with blinds were they are... raises seem to expensive and shoving is overbet...its good for resteals but you still need some kind of good hand anyway
