Fantastic day for both sides with Europe edging it 4.5 to 3.5

RESULT AFTER DAY 2

USA 9 v 7 EUROPE

Win or lose tomorrow both Faldo and Poulter have silenced their critics and I for one am pleased Poulter has shown what Faldo obviously believed was in him. Westwood has been a wild card when out of form and no questions were asked and he delivered. Poulter has done the same.

Going into the final days singles without knowing the matches is going to be a hard prediction at this point but for me the following players should win their matches if not paired against other picks

US
Miskelson
Boooo
Kim
Furyk
Cink

EUROPE
Garcia
Harrington
Poulter
Westwood
G Mac
Karlsson (Very impressed with him this week)
Stenson

And that would give a 14-14 draw with Europe retaining the Ryder Cup! Big Grin

Will be back on when the matches are up for some multiple bets.

Saturday produced some of the toughest matchplay golf you are ever likely to see with only 1 match not making it to the 17th. The quality of golf needed to win a hole was incredible and credit to Europe for winning the day.

Only 2 points in it so Europe need 7 to retain the Ryder Cup and they are capable of that. Harrington & Jimenez have been a bit disappointing so far but I think everyone else has started to play really well. I cant ever remember looking at a Ryder Cup Singles draw and thinking that Europe could win every match, but I do today. The top 4 games will be huge and I can see Europe at least halving them or winning 3. The next 4 could decide the Ryder Cup as they could go either way. The last 4 Europe look strong and if it came down to the last 2, then you would back Harrington and Westwood to handle the pressure over Campbell & Curtis any day. Azinger is surely thinking about getting the job done a lot earlier with those selections.

If USA win then its no fluke, this is the best they have played for years. They seem to have holed more long putts than Europe and thats what Ryder Cup golf is all about. Faldo should not be slated if Europe lose - he picked Poulter who has won 3 points and his selections yesterday played very well. There is also a lot of sense in his running order today, and he will be quietly optimistic that when the heat gets turned fully up he will come out on top once again.

Boylesports are going 10/1 a 14-14 tie which is well worth a cheeky tenner.

Enjoy.

Thumbs Up

Totally agree with Mugs re Faldo/ Poulter and I think the way he has put his team out means we could actually get some important matches at the end.

Think Europe can get 3 out of four points in the first four matches (which they will need to) leaving it 10-10. The next four could go either way but if its no worse than 3 1 then it would be 13 11. The last four look good for min of 3pts to Europe.

Draw looks more and more likely in my eyes, as stated before we started.

Hmmm. To say that Europe could win every match is surely the result of a drug induced delirium. Which I had been there, the drug party that is Cool.

Mahan and Mickelson should cruise to wins in the first four. I can see the Americans taking three of the next four, which would mean that Europe have to take all the remaining matches. With the ridiculously high standard of play the last two days, a close to impossible task for team Europe imo. Of course I could be just talking out of my ass. In any event this will actually pre empt the NFL for a Sunday evening. Absolute must see sports tv.

Looking at those odds closely it is apparent that the books don't really know who is going to win. Mugz, you've been hellbent on a Europe victory from the start. At current odds this is where the big boys would step out of their comfort zone, if they were as convinced as you are. You can have 3K on Europe at 3,55 and 500 on at a tie at 9/1 and you can look quite nicely into the week if the USA does not win.

Good on you then. Normally I would say good luck with that but even though I have zero financial interest on the final day have to root against you. May the best team win. May that be team USA Wink

Who'd have thought it would end so quickly. American Ryder Cup future is looking much brighter all of a sudden.

The middle 4 matches proved crucial as expected. Europe won the battle of the top and bottom 4 by 1 point which could have been more if the last couple of matches had not faded out. However USA won all 4 in the middle third and won the cup by 5 pts.
